This ad features the very hot Carlos Freire headless in each and every shot he is featured in. The rock hard abs of the Brazilian beauty make quite the impression, but his face is nowhere to be seen. So whats with the sudden trend of faceless ads?
Okay so I took it a little to literally, but seriously, theres this sudden trend of putting ads and the models faces are either gone or half there!
Another trend that is also emerging are the faceless ads. I remember one of my favourite faceless ads, the McDonald's ad featuring a grandfather and her apo Karen, Im sure we're all aware of this ad.
To this day, when I watch this ad, it doesnt fail to make me smile. So why is it that advertisers and marketers are now using faceless models and actors for their ads?
I think it has something to do again with relatability as well as giving the ad a soul. No more do infomercials rule the screen projecting models and artistas (some of whom dont even use the product they use). Now we see real mothers in ads, mothers who have wrinkles and worn out hands. Real mothers, not the perfect Martha Stewart mothers who were usually used before. People are starting to realize that not every ad has to feature someone from the 1% perfect gene pool of humanity.
I personally like where ads are going now. They are more real, and have a heart in the ads. :)
This phone was released by Nova Scotia as a prank last 2008 (please see for Nova Scotia : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nova_Scotia) It boasts of having everything that a person on the go will ever need. Some of its features include: a coffee maker, a shaver, a voice translator, a projector, and a cliche harmonica for those oh so boring meetings that you just need to get through.
The phone is the latest campaign by the Nova Scotia group for communications and tourism. They have been critisized for overspending, but no one can deny the great impact it has had, as well as the multiple hits. I personally love the coffee maker and shaver. Choose from the 4 flavours Columbian, Hazelnut, French Vanila, Sumatran Blend while doing your work or even watching a movie. Brewing takes exacly 30 seconds... AMAZING PRODUCT!!! (just like in Home shopping network) A phone where you could shave and talk with at the same time? I personally like the ad and the phone, and the fact that it was named after one of my favourite fruits is a plus to me.
This ad also came out at just when the MaC released the iphone and all the million applications it can do. I was actually shocked to know that the Iphone was named one of the best inventions ever. It is actually at par with the wheel and a better invention than space travel! (please see site for additional reading: http://www.hindustantimes.com/iPhone-in-world-s-best-inventions-list/Article1-545869.aspx ) I love the iphone, but to me this is a little ridiculous. I mean over space travel??? Come on!
I wish that the phone really did exist. It would be pretty cool carrying a handydandy phone like that, but im sure it would probably cost like half a million a piece! I do appreciate the great marketing plan that they did. I love ads that think out of the box, the phone is obviously fake, but so many people actually believed it to be true! So many posts were made after this, I even read some posts wherein people were fighting about the truth of the Pomegranate phone!
Well thats marketing for you. Kudos Nova Scotia! When you do make one, dont forget to send me one. Thanks!
Who doesnt love coffee? I know I cannot go a week without having my usual caffeine drip going down smoothly to my tummy. Theres Theres nothing like a tall caramel milk based machiato with extra drizzle to warm the heart. Besides, with all the good effects of coffee, whats not to love about it right? ( please see : http://www.topendsports.com/health/caffeine.htm for further reading.)
Im actually quite surprised that Nescafe has taken this long to make the Samalamig Ad work. I think that it was because the original concept was something that most people could not really relate to. Rememeber that huge Ad in Edsa with the washboard abs models? That wasnt totally relatable to the masses, and as we know they are a HUGE market.
These are the new ads of Nescafe. If you notice, there are still hot models (the usual stipulation of any summer ad)... but you can see more masses around also. The fishermen, the tinderas. This is more relatable to most people.
The Samalamig Ad is something that is brilliant. They were able to tap into new markets as well as make their product something that can be consumed all year round (As we know, coffee in summer is something less than desirable). They made gimicks like free cars, clothes, makeup, name it. Anything to help make the Samalamig ad a hit (please see this link for a sample: http://jaysonbiadog.blogspot.com/2010/05/i-like-nescafe-samalamig-contest.html)
They also made it more of a household names by incorporating fresh recipes and changing plain coffee into multiple drinks. Here are just some of the ones they have with the percentage of people who like it :
